I think the True Friend would work better with fewer players, but I really like the Artificer and the IW classes, so I think i'll use those along with the Immolator and Barbarian. Thanks for this, it's a lot of useful stuff. Here's some free classes that are on the complete list post that I liked: The Charlatan, The Gladiator, The Leader, The Shaman True friend and some other good stuff is in here too. I suspect This free Psion is by him also, but I'm not sure True friend is Free (included with cultist) It also includes Templar, Mage, and Artificer. The Priest from alternative playbooks is good. The Princess by Michael Atlin, who really needs to make more classes because it's great! free orĪny classes by Jacob Randolph are good. Immolator has it's critics and I used to not like it, but I've come around. Here it is in the srd and it's in the old school character sheets here ) (it's usually at in the character sheets download, but the site is having issues right now. Which classes tend to have good narrative hooks and don't feel boring to play? There's over 100 of the things, so I can't read every playbook to see if it has narrative merit or not. So my question is this: What custom class playbooks have you found to be really well balanced against the default 8 classes in Dungeon World? I haven't really looked into them very much, but there seems to be a pretty overwhelming variety of them, so it's hard for me to really look into.Īlso, please post links to the playbooks you mention.ĮDIT: I guess I'm really just asking for recommendations for third party classes in general. I'm probably going to eventually split the party if everyone consistently shows up, but I think there will be ways to balance the parties against each other and keep everyone more or less on track over time, so the average party size will probably be 3-4. I would like to make their choices a bit easier by allowing the use of a few third party custom class playbooks, but so many of them either seem way too overpowered or way too underpowered. I have a total of 7 people interested in being in the campaign, with the possibility of it going up to 8, but I don't forsee them all wanting to pick different classes for any reason other than someone already picked the class they want. Often times when custom playbooks are posted here, balance is taken up as an issue. If you know of a link that you feel should be listed here, please message the moderators. You’ll face dangerous enemies, sweeping plots, and treacherous locations. You'll take on the roles of dwarves, elves, and humans in a world of magic.
